Christian Haberland

In addition to the visual arts, Christian Haberland is very interested in music and ballet, both of which are the focus of his current artistic work. The ballet series “Danseuses” and “Pas de Deux” were created based on sketches from the ballet hall.

Haberland works exclusively from his own sketches and does not use photos or other media. The artist draws at Danielle Haas's "Tanzatelier" ballet school, at "Raw and Polished" at the Nuremberg Region Dance Center in Fürth and recently at EveryBody, an inclusive dance project by Susanna Curtis. Haberland makes further sketches for the successful drawings in the studio, usually trying to increase the expression of the drawing through reduction and abstraction. Finally, he creates larger format ink drawings with a brush. The artist is also intensively involved with music and has created oil paintings for some pieces of music, with an abstract representation being his aim. Examples include “I Here My Train A-Comin” by Jimy Hendrix, the “Goldberg Variations (j. S. Bach) and “La Mer” by Debussy. Christian Haberland plans to continue working on the projects.
